The Waters

Early Fall 2005

Friends and Neighbors:
Hello, and welcome to the latest edition of The Waters' newsletter, our periodic update of all our latest news. Please read throughout to ensure you don't miss out on any important dates or announcements.

Join the Parade
The Parade of Homes came to The Waters on Friday, October 7, and continues Friday through Sunday for two weeks. People from all over Montgomery have been visiting The Waters and discovering what our residents already know - The Waters is Montgomery's next great place to call home.

Our largest day on the tour will be Saturday, October 15, when we'll combine the Parade festivities with our annual Founders' Day Celebration. Food will be available for sale all day, with live music starting at 3pm and an evening fireworks display bigger than our July 4th show. Everyone is invited!

Tennis Courts Emerge
As many have noticed, we've recently broken ground on the first of The Waters' tennis courts under the careful direction of Linn Lower, a recognized expert in the field. The first phase will include two courts that have a special cushioned surface called Plexicushion that is easier on the knees. The courts are expected to be completed within a few months.

We're Cooking Now
Completion of The Waters' much-anticipated outdoor kitchen - complete with gas grill, double burner cooktop, sink, and counter space - is expected just in time for the end of the Parade of Homes. Available for use by residents and located adjacent to the pool, Boat House, beach and pavilion, the kitchen is expected to bring a whole new flavor to our central gathering spots. Bon appetit!

Founder Brusle Sherburne Joins the Sales Staff
What's in a name? For Colonel Brusle (pronounced BROO-lee) Sherburne, a lot. A native of Louisiana, Brusle has spent the past 28 years in the United States Air Force in a wide range of roles - from flying into the eye of hurricanes to most recently serving as the Registrar of the Air Force's ROTC program. Upon Brusle's retirement later this year from the Air Force, he will join our sales staff. Last year Brusle and his wife Gwen purchased Lot 75 pursuant to the Founders Program.

Paving the Way for Sideyard Homes
With the recently completed paving work on Bright Spot Street, we'll now be seeing a number of sideyard homes popping up. From its origins in Charleston, South Carolina, the sideyard house type is gaining in popularity due to its ability to maximize the use of your yard while providing substantial light and privacy to the house.

Prize Money Well Spent
Bettye Benjamen, a local RE/MAX associate and the winner of our $1,000 first prize giveaway during our August Realtor "Meet & Greet," wrote us recently detailing her most interesting use of the winnings - continuing her dream of bringing Welsh ponies to the children and families of Alabama.

An avid fan, Bettye was asked what might be an appropriate Waters-inspired name to give a Welsh pony (called a "foal"). Upon checking some resources, she arrived at a name whose most accurate Welsh translation is "beautiful country waters or land." We couldn't agree more.
