Neighborhood Shops Near Completion
A stellar collection of neighborhood shops and offices are filling up the ground floor of The Bridge Street Condos building, overlooking The Waters’ picture-perfect Lucas Point square. Confirmed tenants include a YMCA “Y’se Up” location, the Bridge Street Market restaurant and general store, The Waters Realty, Smile Consultants dentistry and Cindy Barganier Interiors. Build-out on each business is nearing completion with individual openings taking place over the next few months.
Come Together, Right Now (Or, at least, soon)
The Waters’ long-awaited meeting house breaks ground in January, with an expected completion date in early summer. Designed by architect Gary Justiss, who’s also responsible for a number of homes here, and built by Andrew and Dawson, the building will seat 200 to 250 and be ideal for everything from community meetings to movie nights to all-out dream weddings. In fact, its first wedding, to take place in July, is already scheduled.
Something Fishy’s Going On
Representatives from Southeastern Pond Management provided their periodic report of The Waters’ fishing quality recently and the news couldn’t be better. Bass in Lake Cameron, Montgomery’s largest lake, are currently averaging 3 pounds and 16 inches in length. This reflects an increase of 35% since the spring. There’s now never been a better opportunity to make true, world-class bass fishing a day-in, day-out part of your life.
Home on the Crescent
Dungan Nequette Architects recently released plans for the most prestigious address at the Waters-- the Crescent Park Brownstones. Inspired by the brownstones of New York City, these large homes have a unobstructed panoramic view of the 200 acre Lake Cameron as they wrap around the tip of Lucas Point. Complete pricing is now in place so see a Waters sales agent today.
Parade Proves Wildly Popular
The 2006 Montgomery Parade of Homes brought record crowds to The Waters this year. Over the course of two weekends (late September and early October), 4,100 people came out, and a number of new neighbors resulted. The event also marked the release of the latest phase of lakefront lots, half of which were sold over the course of the week.
Town Architect Receives National Recognition
Steve Mouzon, The Waters’ Town Architect, has designed a 523 square foot “Kernel Cottage” recently featured in USA TODAY’s WEEKEND section. The house, which can grow to 1,303 sq. ft. with the addition of two wings, was produced in a South Louisiana factory by Housing International Inc. and trucked to Maryland for USA WEEKEND's Make a Difference Day celebration. It serves as the most visible example of Steve’s tireless work on the Katrina Cottage idea, born a little over a year ago as a means of providing lasting, dignified, and affordable housing to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
